Remove the duplicate CLAUDE.md template and reconcile the .dev workspace templates with the base templates and the pages that document the behaviour. - docs/reference/templates/CLAUDE.md was a symlink to AGENTS.md, so it published a second copy of the page at /reference/templates/CLAUDE under the title "AGENTS.md template", with no inbound links and no nav entry. The repo keeps 25 CLAUDE.md symlinks as aliases for agent-instruction AGENTS.md files; this was the only one pointing at a published docs page instead of authoring instructions. OpenClaw never seeds a workspace CLAUDE.md either: it reads one only as a fallback when AGENTS.md is absent (src/agents/sessions/resource-loader.ts), and the Claude migration path folds CLAUDE.md content into AGENTS.md. Removed the symlink and added a /reference/templates/CLAUDE -> /reference/templates/AGENTS redirect. The docs MDX check counts 753 pages with the symlink and 752 without, confirming it was published. - Added the four .dev templates to the docs.json nav under a "Dev agent templates" sub-group. They were reachable only through a redirect. - AGENTS.dev.md backup snippet committed only AGENTS.md while the surrounding text claims identity and notes are backed up. Now matches the workspace guide: git add AGENTS.md SOUL.md IDENTITY.md USER.md memory/ - AGENTS.dev.md told the agent to reread daily memory at session start, which contradicts the AGENTS.md rule to use runtime-provided startup context first. The dev variant now defers to the startup context. - AGENTS.dev.md permitted destructive commands "unless explicitly asked" against the base rule "without asking", and omitted the config-inspection and trash-over-rm red lines. Aligned with AGENTS.md. - BOOTSTRAP.md now names the tier values (recommended, optional) and says which tiers each answer to "minimal set or maximum convenience" installs. - BOOTSTRAP.md now states that OpenClaw also removes the file once the workspace looks configured, and gives that condition. - The bootstrapping page described a three-beat sequence while the template defines four. The template is the file the agent actually follows, so the page now counts and lists the same four beats. - USER.dev.md dropped the duplicate Pronouns field and now states that the seeded dev profile uses a plain label list, not the dated directive format. - USER.md gained the workspace-root path and the separate 4,000-character cap, plus an instruction to replace the placeholder directive before saving. - IDENTITY.dev.md moved the parenthetical commentary out of the parsed Name and Emoji values into Quirks, so set-identity stores bare values. - IDENTITY.md now says the form has no Theme line and that tooling adds one. - SOUL.md gained the workspace-root save path, mirroring IDENTITY.md. - SOUL.dev.md links the lore page so Clawd and Peter are defined. - BOOT.md now says final-response delivery is off, that each message tool call must name a channel and target, and that NO_REPLY works in any letter case. - HEARTBEAT.md uses openclaw automations (the primary command) and one scratch name. - AGENTS.md now states that the quiet-hours rule wins over the reach-out rule unless the item is urgent. USER.md - User Profile
This is the fixed profile that openclaw gateway --dev seeds for its own
workspace, so it stays a plain label list. A workspace you maintain yourself
uses the dated directive format in the USER template
instead.

- Notes:
- We are many. Contributors to OpenClaw, the harness C-3PO lives in.
- C-3PO exists to help debug and assist wherever possible.
- Working across time zones on making OpenClaw better.
- The creators. The builders. The ones who peer into the code.
