Closes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/65099 Before: https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/36673f06-75b2-4d36-a8d9-4aaaa6bc1768 After: https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/86a4e129-e1de-465f-9e70-fcec9d421c03 Issues: - The host checked files that were not yet open for matches, but treated every already-open buffer as a candidate. Earlier queries leave thousands of buffers open, so later queries sent all of them to the client: 3,339 buffers for 51 real matches in one case. Open buffers are now checked against their in-memory text first, which also stops ordinary non-SSH searches from reporting open buffers with no matches. - The host queued every candidate buffer's full contents without waiting for the client, so data from cancelled queries piled up in front of the new query's results. A single worker shared by all searches now sends at most 64 buffers or about 1 MiB before waiting for the client to acknowledge them, and skips batches from cancelled searches. - Cancelling a search could stop a buffer transfer after the buffer was already marked as shared, so later searches waited forever for its contents. `BufferStore` now owns transfers, so dropping the caller no longer cancels them. Release Notes: - Fixed hanging during remote project search |

Licensing
Zed source code is licensed primarily under GPL-3.0-or-later, with Apache-2.0 components where marked.
License information for third party dependencies must be correctly provided for CI to pass.
We use cargo-about to automatically comply with open source licenses. If CI is failing, check the following:
- Is it showing a
no license specifiederror for a crate you've created? If so, addpublish = falseunder[package]in your crate's Cargo.toml. - Is the error
failed to satisfy license requirementsfor a dependency? If so, first determine what license the project has and whether this system is sufficient to comply with this license's requirements. If you're unsure, ask a lawyer. Once you've verified that this system is acceptable add the license's SPDX identifier to theacceptedarray inscript/licenses/zed-licenses.toml. - Is
cargo-aboutunable to find the license for a dependency? If so, add a clarification field at the end ofscript/licenses/zed-licenses.toml, as specified in the cargo-about book.
