Gate Format Selections on whether the active formatter can actually format ranges (#53178)
## What Changed

- compute range-format support from formatter configuration and
language-server capabilities
- show `Format Selections` only when at least one selected buffer has a
range-capable formatter
- keep Prettier-supported range formatting available without depending
on LSP support
- hide the action for formatter modes that cannot honor selections, such
as external-command and code-action formatters
- keep the action handler safe by rechecking support and returning early
when range formatting is unavailable
- restrict capability checks to the servers actually registered for the
current buffer
- add regression coverage for supported, unsupported, and mixed-server
cases
- document when `Format Selections` is available in both action docs and
user docs

Self-Review Checklist:

- [x] I've reviewed my own diff for quality, security, and reliability
- [x] Unsafe blocks (if any) have justifying comments
- [x] The content is consistent with the [UI/UX

- [x] Tests cover the new/changed behavior
- [x] Performance impact has been considered and is acceptable

Closes #25796

Release Notes:
- Improved `Format Selections` so it is only shown when the active
formatter supports range formatting.

Testing I did:

Here are the formatters I used:

src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/cae4a238-277e-4188-873f-189e9f098699"
/>

Note: I've chosen three formatters:
1. Prettier, which supports range formatting
2. clangd (LSP) which also supports range formatting
3. gopls which do not support range formatting

Require multibuffer excerpts to be ordered and nonoverlapping (#52364)
TODO:
- [x] merge main
- [x] nonshrinking `set_excerpts_for_path`
- [x] Test-drive potential problem areas in the app
- [x] prepare cloud side
- [x] test collaboration
- [ ] docstrings
- [ ] ???

## Context

### Background

Currently, a multibuffer consists of an arbitrary list of
anchor-delimited excerpts from individual buffers. Excerpt ranges for a
fixed buffer are permitted to overlap, and can appear in any order in
the multibuffer, possibly separated by excerpts from other buffers.
However, in practice all code that constructs multibuffers does so using
the APIs defined in the `path_key` submodule of the `multi_buffer` crate
(`set_excerpts_for_path` etc.) If you only use these APIs, the resulting
multibuffer will maintain the following invariants:

- All excerpts for the same buffer appear contiguously in the
multibuffer
- Excerpts for the same buffer cannot overlap
- Excerpts for the same buffer appear in order
- The placement of the excerpts for a specific buffer in the multibuffer
are determined by the `PathKey` passed to `set_excerpts_for_path`. There
is exactly one `PathKey` per buffer in the multibuffer

### Purpose of this PR

This PR changes the multibuffer so that the invariants maintained by the
`path_key` APIs *always* hold. It's no longer possible to construct a
multibuffer with overlapping excerpts, etc. The APIs that permitted
this, like `insert_excerpts_with_ids_after`, have been removed in favor
of the `path_key` suite.

The main upshot of this is that given a `text::Anchor` and a
multibuffer, it's possible to efficiently figure out the unique excerpt
that includes that anchor, if any:

```
impl MultiBufferSnapshot {
    fn buffer_anchor_to_anchor(&self, anchor: text::Anchor) -> Option<multi_buffer::Anchor>;
}
```

And in the other direction, given a `multi_buffer::Anchor`, we can look
at its `text::Anchor` to locate the excerpt that contains it. That means
we don't need an `ExcerptId` to create or resolve
`multi_buffer::Anchor`, and in fact we can delete `ExcerptId` entirely,
so that excerpts no longer have any identity outside their
`Range<text::Anchor>`.

There are a large number of changes to `editor` and other downstream
crates as a result of removing `ExcerptId` and multibuffer APIs that
assumed it.

### Other changes

There are some other improvements that are not immediate consequences of
that big change, but helped make it smoother. Notably:

- The `buffer_id` field of `text::Anchor` is no longer optional.
`text::Anchor::{MIN, MAX}` have been removed in favor of
`min_for_buffer`, etc.
- `multi_buffer::Anchor` is now a three-variant enum (inlined slightly):

```
enum Anchor {
    Min,
    Excerpt {
        text_anchor: text::Anchor,
        path_key_index: PathKeyIndex,
        diff_base_anchor: Option<text::Anchor>,
    },
    Max,
}
```

That means it's no longer possible to unconditionally access the
`text_anchor` field, which is good because most of the places that were
doing that were buggy for min/max! Instead, we have a new API that
correctly resolves min/max to the start of the first excerpt or the end
of the last excerpt:

```
impl MultiBufferSnapshot {
    fn anchor_to_buffer_anchor(&self, anchor: multi_buffer::Anchor) -> Option<text::Anchor>;
}
```
- `MultiBufferExcerpt` has been removed in favor of a new
`map_excerpt_ranges` API directly on `MultiBufferSnapshot`.

pane: Add "Reveal in Finder" to tab context menu (#51615)
The tab context menu has "Copy Path", "Open in Terminal", and "Reveal In
Project Panel" but no way to reveal the file in the system file manager.
This action already exists in three other context menus (editor
right-click, project panel, outline panel) but was missing from tab
right-click.

## Changes

Adds a platform-specific entry to the tab context menu:
- **macOS:** "Reveal in Finder"
- **Windows:** "Reveal in File Explorer"
- **Linux:** "Reveal in File Manager"

Placed after "Copy Relative Path" and before "Pin Tab". Gated behind
`is_local` (including WSL with host interop) to match the project
panel's behavior. Uses the existing `project.reveal_path()`
infrastructure, which handles platform-specific file manager invocation
and WSL path conversion.

## Prior art

Every major editor has this in the tab context menu:
- VS Code: "Reveal in Finder" (macOS) / "Reveal in File Explorer"
(Windows)
- JetBrains IDEs: Right-click tab -> "Open in" -> "Finder"
- Sublime Text: Right-click tab -> "Reveal in Finder"

Zed already has this in the editor body right-click menu (`Cmd-K R`),
project panel (`Alt-Cmd-R`), and outline panel. The tab context menu was
the only place it was missing.

This contribution was developed with AI assistance (Claude Code).

Release Notes:

- Added "Reveal in Finder" to the tab context menu

Fix stale pending keybinding indicators on focus change (#44678)
Closes #ISSUE

Problem:

- The status bar’s pending keystroke indicator (shown next to --NORMAL--
in Vim mode) didn’t clear when focus moved to another context, e.g.
hitting g in the editor then clicking the Git panel. The keymap state
correctly canceled the prefix, but observers that render the indicator
never received a “pending input changed” notification, so the UI kept
showing stale prefixes until a new keystroke occurred.

Fix:

- The change introduces a `pending_input_changed_queued` flag and a new
helper `notify_pending_input_if_needed` which will flushes the queued
notification as soon as we have an App context. The
`pending_input_changed` now resets the flag after notifying subscribers.

editor: Fix pane's tab buttons flicker on right-click (#42549)
Whenever right-click was used on the editor, the pane's tab buttons
would flicker, which was confirmed to happen because of the following
check:

```
self.focus_handle.contains_focused(window, cx)
    || self
        .active_item()
        .is_some_and(|item| {
            item.item_focus_handle(cx).contains_focused(window, cx)
        })
```

This check was returning `false` right after right-clicking but
returning `true` right after. When digging into it a little bit more,
this appears to be happening because the editor's `MouseContextMenu`
relies on `ContextMenu` which is rendered in a deferred fashion but
`MouseContextMenu` updates the window's focus to it instantaneously.

Since the `ContextMenu` is rendered in a deferred fashion, its focus
handle is not yet a descendant of the editor (pane's active item) focus
handle, so the `contains_focused(window, cx)` call would return `false`,
with it returning `true` after the menu was rendered.

This commit updates the `MouseContextMenu::new` function to leverage
`cx.on_next_frame` and ensure that the focus is only moved to the
`ContextMenu` 2 frames later, ensuring that by the time the focus is
moved, the `ContextMenu`'s focus handle is a descendant of the editor's.

agent: Improve AddSelectionToThread action display (#42280)
Closes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/42276

This fixes the fact that the `AddSelectionToThread` action was visible
when `disable_ai` was true, as well as it improves its display by making
it either disabled or hidden when there are no selections in the editor.
I also ended up removing it from the app menu simply because making it
observe the `disable_ai` setting would be a bit more complex than I'd
like at the moment, so figured that, given I'm also now adding it to the
toolbar selection menu, we could do without it over there.

agent: Improve discoverability of the quote selection action (#40897)
This PR renames the `agent::QuoteSelection` to
`agent::AddSelectionToThread` _and_ adds it as a menu item in both the
right-click context menu within regular buffers as well as the
"Selection" app menu.

We've received feedback in the past about how hard to discover this
feature is, and after watching [the Syntax podcast
crew](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRK3PeVFfVE) recently struggle
with doing so—and then naturally looking for it in the context menu and
not finding it—it felt like time to push a change. I think the rename +
the availability in these places could help bringing it to surface more.

The same action can be done in Cursor through the `cmd-l` keybinding,
but in Zed, that triggers `editor::SelectLine`, which I don't want to
override by default. However, if you're using Cursor's keymap, then
`cmd-l` does trigger this action, as expected.

editor: Revert flattening of code actions in mouse context menu (#28988)
In light of making context not move dynamically, reverting back these
changes.

- Doing it async will lead to a loading state, which moves the context
menu.
- Doing it sync introduces noticeable lag in opening the context menu.

Future idea is to introduce fixed code actions like refactor, rewrite,
etc depending on code action kind [(see
more)](https://microsoft.github.io/language-server-protocol/specifications/lsp/3.17/specification/#codeActionKind)
which will use submenus.

editor: Refactor EditorMode::Full (#28546)
This PR lightly refactors the `EditorMode::Full` exposing two new
methods: `is_full` and `set_mode`.

Motivation is to expose fields that modify the behavior when the editor
is in `Full` mode. By using is `mode.is_full()` instead of
`EditorMode::Full` we can introduce new fields without breaking other
places in the code.

debugger: Add run to cursor and evaluate selected text actions (#28405)
## Summary

### Actions

This PR implements actions that allow a user to "run to cursor" and
"evaluate selected text" while there's an active debug session and
exposes the functionality to the UI as well.

- Run to cursor: Can be accessed by right clicking on the gutter
- Evaluate selected text: Can be accessed by selecting text then right
clicking in the editor

### Bug fixes

I also fixed these bugs as well

- Panic when using debugger: Stop action
- Debugger actions command palette filter not working properly in all
cases
- We stopped displaying the correct label in the session's context menu
when a session was terminated

Migrate most callers of git-related worktree APIs to use the GitStore (#27225)
This is a pure refactoring PR that goes through all the git-related APIs
exposed by the worktree crate and minimizes their use outside that
crate, migrating callers of those APIs to read from the GitStore
instead. This is to prepare for evacuating git repository state from
worktrees and making the GitStore the new source of truth.

Other drive-by changes:

- `project::git` is now `project::git_store`, for consistency with the
other project stores
- the project panel's test module has been split into its own file

Eliminate GPUI View, ViewContext, and WindowContext types (#22632)
There's still a bit more work to do on this, but this PR is compiling
(with warnings) after eliminating the key types. When the tasks below
are complete, this will be the new narrative for GPUI:

- `Entity<T>` - This replaces `View<T>`/`Model<T>`. It represents a unit
of state, and if `T` implements `Render`, then `Entity<T>` implements
`Element`.
- `&mut App` This replaces `AppContext` and represents the app.
- `&mut Context<T>` This replaces `ModelContext` and derefs to `App`. It
is provided by the framework when updating an entity.
- `&mut Window` Broken out of `&mut WindowContext` which no longer
exists. Every method that once took `&mut WindowContext` now takes `&mut
Window, &mut App` and every method that took `&mut ViewContext<T>` now
takes `&mut Window, &mut Context<T>`

Not pictured here are the two other failed attempts. It's been quite a
month!

Tasks:

- [x] Remove `View`, `ViewContext`, `WindowContext` and thread through
`Window`
- [x] [@cole-miller @mikayla-maki] Redraw window when entities change
- [x] [@cole-miller @mikayla-maki] Get examples and Zed running
- [x] [@cole-miller @mikayla-maki] Fix Zed rendering
- [x] [@mikayla-maki] Fix todo! macros and comments
- [x] Fix a bug where the editor would not be redrawn because of view
caching
- [x] remove publicness window.notify() and replace with
`AppContext::notify`
- [x] remove `observe_new_window_models`, replace with
`observe_new_models` with an optional window
- [x] Fix a bug where the project panel would not be redrawn because of
the wrong refresh() call being used
- [x] Fix the tests
- [x] Fix warnings by eliminating `Window` params or using `_`
- [x] Fix conflicts
- [x] Simplify generic code where possible
- [x] Rename types
- [ ] Update docs

### issues post merge

- [x] Issues switching between normal and insert mode
- [x] Assistant re-rendering failure
- [x] Vim test failures
- [x] Mac build issue
