csv_preview: Refine filter popover UI (#61138)
# Objective

- The column filter popover was a static `ContextMenu`: no search, and
it didn't scale to columns with many unique values.

## Solution

- Replaced it with a `Picker<ColumnFilterDelegate>` with fuzzy search
and match highlighting over the column's unique values.
- Row order is frozen at open time (available first, then values hidden
by other filters under a "Hidden by other filters" header) so toggling a
value doesn't reshuffle the list.
- Added a footer with `{selected} / {total} rows selected` and "Clear
all".
- Added `fuzzy` and `picker` deps to `csv_preview`.

## Testing

- Search narrows to fuzzy matches with highlighting.
- Toggling a value updates its checkmark and footer count without
closing or reordering the list.
- Values excluded by another column's filter show disabled under "Hidden
by other filters".
- "Clear all" clears the column's filters and keeps the popover open.

Closes #54951

## Problem

The quick action bar's preview button (markdown, SVG, and CSV behind the
feature flag) resolved everything through `workspace.active_item()` —
the globally *focused* item — instead of the item of the pane the button
sits in. With `A.md` in the left pane and focus in `B.md` in the right
pane:

- Clicking the eye button in **A.md's** toolbar opened a preview of
**B.md**, in the right pane.
- Focusing a non-previewable file (e.g. `B.sh`) in one pane hid the
button in **every** pane's toolbar, making `A.md` unpreviewable by
mouse.

Clicking the button dispatched the `OpenPreview` action, whose
workspace-level handler re-resolved the focused editor — so a click on a
specific pane's toolbar was functionally identical to pressing the
keybinding, discarding the pane the click happened in.

## Fix

Make the flow pane-explicit end to end:

- **Visibility:** each pane's `QuickActionBar` resolves the preview type
from its own `active_item` (set via `set_active_pane_item`) instead of
the workspace's focused item.
- **Click:** no more action dispatch. The handler resolves its pane via
`Workspace::pane_for` and calls new pane-explicit helpers —
`open_preview_in_pane` / `open_preview_to_the_side_of_pane` — extracted
from the action-handler bodies in all three preview crates. Keyboard
actions keep their focus-based semantics and route through the same
helpers with the focused editor and active pane.
- **Alt-click** (open in split) now splits relative to the button's pane
via the new `Workspace::adjacent_pane_of` (the existing `adjacent_pane`
delegates to it).

Notably *not* done: focusing the button's pane and re-dispatching the
action. `workspace.active_pane` only updates when pane focus-in
listeners fire at the end of the next draw, while dispatched actions run
before it — the handler would still read the stale pane.

## Additional changes

- Existing-preview lookup now happens **before** view construction,
instead of building a full preview view (subscriptions, initial parse)
and discarding it when one already exists.
- The `focus` flag now also applies to the activate-existing branch, so
open-to-the-side never steals focus — previously the *first* invocation
left focus in the editor but a *repeat* invocation focused the existing
preview (and cancelled collaborator-following in that pane as a side
effect).
- SVG handlers no longer double-check `is_svg_file`; CSV handlers reuse
`resolve_active_item_as_csv_editor` instead of inlining it;
`is_markdown_file` takes `&App` instead of a needless `&mut Context<V>`.

## Testing

- New regression test
`preview_opens_for_the_given_pane_not_the_focused_editor` reproducing
the issue's setup (two panes, focus in the second, preview invoked for
the first pane's editor), asserting the preview opens in the invoking
pane bound to that pane's editor with the focused pane untouched.
- Markdown/SVG/CSV preview suites and the full `workspace` suite pass;
`./script/clippy` is clean.

Release Notes:

- Fixed the preview button (Markdown/SVG) previewing the focused file
instead of the file in the pane the button belongs to when multiple
panes are open

csv_preview: Add single-line row displaying mode (#61127)
### Changes

Adds a checkbox to toggle between multiline cells (current behavior) and
single-line rows that clip overflow, so wide CSVs stay compact when full
cell content isn't needed at a glance.

#### Demo
| Before | After |
| --- | --- |
| No single line mode | <img width="662" height="316" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/3f2a9673-557c-4539-b755-9ff2633de2d7"

### Testing

- Toggle "Display multiline rows" off: cells clip to one line with
ellipsis instead of wrapping
- Toggle it back on: cells wrap and grow to show full content
- Resize the window / change font size: single-line clip height tracks
the actual text line height instead of a stale hardcoded value

csv_preview: Refine table styling and header button visibility (#60995)
Cleans up table cell/row styling and reworks column header filter/sort
buttons so they stay out of the way until needed, with a gradient fade
instead of a hard clip when the header label is truncated.

### Summary

Improved CSV preview column headers to only show filter/sort actions on
hover, with a gradient fade for truncated labels

### Demo (todo)

### Testing

- Hover over a data column header: filter/sort buttons fade in, label
truncates behind a gradient rather than a hard edge
- Apply a filter or sort on a column: its buttons stay visible without
hovering
- Toggle row identifier / cell vertical alignment setting between top
and center: alignment applies consistently to both row identifiers and
cells
- Confirm table renders without the previous striping (only bottom
borders)

csv_preview: Add row filtering feature (#60339)
# Objective

CSV feature needs row filtering feature by column values. This PR
provides base implementation of it with barebones ui.

> NOTE: Sleek UI with search & proper scrolling hanling is implemented
in next PR. It's stacked on top to reduce review scope

## Solution

- New `FilterEntry` / `FilterEntryState` model in
`table_data_engine/filtering_by_column.rs` tracking per-column
applied/candidate filter values
- Filtering runs in the background (`feat: Implement background
filtering`) so large CSVs don't block the UI thread while a filter is
applied
- Filter menu entries reflect live counts and support a configurable
sort order (`FilterSortOrder`, added in `renderer/settings.rs` /
`settings.rs`)
- Filter/sort trigger buttons on column headers are hidden until hover,
using `GradientFade` (new in `ui/src/components/gradient_fade.rs`) to
fade content behind them

## Testing

Filter chain tested on csv fixtures with multiple filters applied
sequentially columns.

csv_preview: Implement data_table columns pining (#56619)
## Summary

Adds column pinning (freeze) capability to data tables, allowing the
first N columns to remain visible while scrolling horizontally through
the rest of the table content.

Common spreadsheet/data table UX pattern. When viewing wide tables with
many columns, users need to see identifying information (row labels,
IDs) while scrolling right to explore data.

## Demo
Idle state:
<img width="559" height="179" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/b3f89221-8aa9-4e8a-9a39-6f06cc8a4eea"
/>
Scrolled horizontally (name column dissapeared, line numbers column
stayed pinned):
<img width="522" height="174" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/c6695a00-5e40-49b8-81d7-0b30e26bb7bb"
/>

## Implementation

- New `pin_cols(n: usize)` builder method on `Table` to specify how many
columns to pin
- Pinned columns render in a fixed section that doesn't scroll
horizontally
- Scrollable columns render separately with independent scroll state
- Horizontal scroll offset adjustments for proper column resize handle
positioning with pinned sections
- Pinned section stays at viewport left edge while scrollable section
scrolls independently
- Supports 0 < pinned_cols < total_cols (partial pinning)
- Applied to CSV preview for better UX with wide datasets

## Context

Part of CSV preview feature series, following PR #53496 (settings UI).

Before you mark this PR as ready for review, make sure that you have:
- [x] Added a solid test coverage and/or screenshots from doing manual
testing

csv_preview: Add independently resizable columns (#53295)
This PR adds spreadsheet-style independently resizable columns (dragging
changes total table width) and fixes scrolling issues in variable list
mode.

**What changed:**

- Adds `ResizableColumnsState` struct for independently resizable
columns (spreadsheet-style)
- Adds `ColumnWidthConfig::Resizable` variant for spreadsheet mode
- Adds `DraggedResizableColumn` drag payload type
- Adds `ResizableHeaderInfo` for double-click-to-reset functionality
- Adds `render_resize_handles_resizable` function for resize handles
rendering
- Adds horizontal scroll handle to `TableInteractionState`
- Adds `.on_drag_move::<DraggedResizableColumn>` handler to Table for
drag resizing

**Bug fixes:**

- Fixed missing vertical scrollbar in variable list mode
- Fixed half-broken scrolling in variable list mode (added
.measure_all() to make scrollbar aware of the height of the table)
- Moved vertical scrollbar to be pinned at the right side of the pane
with table — previously it was attached to the table content and was
pushed off-screen when table content was too wide

**API addition:**

```rust
// New variant added:
pub enum ColumnWidthConfig {
    Static { widths: StaticColumnWidths, table_width: Option<DefiniteLength> },
    Redistributable { entity: Entity<RedistributableColumnsState>, table_width: Option<DefiniteLength> },
    Resizable(Entity<ResizableColumnsState>),  // NEW: spreadsheet-style
}
```

**Callers updated:**

- csv_preview: Changed from `ColumnWidthConfig::redistributable()` to
use new resizable mode
- git_graph: Added `resizable_info` parameter

**Context:**

This is part 3 of a 3-PR series improving data table column width
handling:

1. [#51059](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/51059) - Extract
modules into separate files (mechanical change)
2. [#51120](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/51120) -
Introduce width config enum for redistributable column widths (API
rework)
3. **This PR**: Add independently resizable columns + fix variable list
scrolling (new feature + bug fixes)

The series builds on previously merged infrastructure:

- [#46341](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/46341) - Data
table dynamic column support
- [#46190](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/46190) - Variable
row height mode for data tables

Primary beneficiary: CSV preview feature
([#48207](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/48207))

This work is based on the [original draft PR
#44344](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/44344), decomposed
into reviewable pieces.

Require multibuffer excerpts to be ordered and nonoverlapping (#52364)
TODO:
- [x] merge main
- [x] nonshrinking `set_excerpts_for_path`
- [x] Test-drive potential problem areas in the app
- [x] prepare cloud side
- [x] test collaboration
- [ ] docstrings
- [ ] ???

## Context

### Background

Currently, a multibuffer consists of an arbitrary list of
anchor-delimited excerpts from individual buffers. Excerpt ranges for a
fixed buffer are permitted to overlap, and can appear in any order in
the multibuffer, possibly separated by excerpts from other buffers.
However, in practice all code that constructs multibuffers does so using
the APIs defined in the `path_key` submodule of the `multi_buffer` crate
(`set_excerpts_for_path` etc.) If you only use these APIs, the resulting
multibuffer will maintain the following invariants:

- All excerpts for the same buffer appear contiguously in the
multibuffer
- Excerpts for the same buffer cannot overlap
- Excerpts for the same buffer appear in order
- The placement of the excerpts for a specific buffer in the multibuffer
are determined by the `PathKey` passed to `set_excerpts_for_path`. There
is exactly one `PathKey` per buffer in the multibuffer

### Purpose of this PR

This PR changes the multibuffer so that the invariants maintained by the
`path_key` APIs *always* hold. It's no longer possible to construct a
multibuffer with overlapping excerpts, etc. The APIs that permitted
this, like `insert_excerpts_with_ids_after`, have been removed in favor
of the `path_key` suite.

The main upshot of this is that given a `text::Anchor` and a
multibuffer, it's possible to efficiently figure out the unique excerpt
that includes that anchor, if any:

```
impl MultiBufferSnapshot {
    fn buffer_anchor_to_anchor(&self, anchor: text::Anchor) -> Option<multi_buffer::Anchor>;
}
```

And in the other direction, given a `multi_buffer::Anchor`, we can look
at its `text::Anchor` to locate the excerpt that contains it. That means
we don't need an `ExcerptId` to create or resolve
`multi_buffer::Anchor`, and in fact we can delete `ExcerptId` entirely,
so that excerpts no longer have any identity outside their
`Range<text::Anchor>`.

There are a large number of changes to `editor` and other downstream
crates as a result of removing `ExcerptId` and multibuffer APIs that
assumed it.

### Other changes

There are some other improvements that are not immediate consequences of
that big change, but helped make it smoother. Notably:

- The `buffer_id` field of `text::Anchor` is no longer optional.
`text::Anchor::{MIN, MAX}` have been removed in favor of
`min_for_buffer`, etc.
- `multi_buffer::Anchor` is now a three-variant enum (inlined slightly):

```
enum Anchor {
    Min,
    Excerpt {
        text_anchor: text::Anchor,
        path_key_index: PathKeyIndex,
        diff_base_anchor: Option<text::Anchor>,
    },
    Max,
}
```

That means it's no longer possible to unconditionally access the
`text_anchor` field, which is good because most of the places that were
doing that were buggy for min/max! Instead, we have a new API that
correctly resolves min/max to the start of the first excerpt or the end
of the last excerpt:

```
impl MultiBufferSnapshot {
    fn anchor_to_buffer_anchor(&self, anchor: multi_buffer::Anchor) -> Option<text::Anchor>;
}
```
- `MultiBufferExcerpt` has been removed in favor of a new
`map_excerpt_ranges` API directly on `MultiBufferSnapshot`.

Rework column/table width API in data table (#51060)
data_table: Replace column width builder API with `ColumnWidthConfig`
enum

This PR consolidates the data table width configuration API from three
separate builder methods (`.column_widths()`, `.resizable_columns()`,
`.width()`) into a single `.width_config(ColumnWidthConfig)` call. This
makes invalid state combinations unrepresentable and clarifies the two
distinct width management modes.

**What changed:**

- Introduces `ColumnWidthConfig` enum with two variants:
  - `Static`: Fixed column widths, no resize handles
- `Redistributable`: Drag-to-resize columns that redistribute space
within a fixed table width
- Introduces `TableResizeBehavior` enum (`None`, `Resizable`,
`MinSize(f32)`) for per-column resize policy
- Renames `TableColumnWidths` → `RedistributableColumnsState` to better
reflect its purpose
- Extracts all width management logic into a new `width_management.rs`
module
- Updates all callers: `csv_preview`, `git_graph`, `keymap_editor`,
`edit_prediction_context_view`

```rust
pub enum ColumnWidthConfig {
    /// Static column widths (no resize handles).
    Static {
        widths: StaticColumnWidths,
        /// Controls widths of the whole table.
        table_width: Option<DefiniteLength>,
    },
    /// Redistributable columns — dragging redistributes the fixed available space
    /// among columns without changing the overall table width.
    Redistributable {
        entity: Entity<RedistributableColumnsState>,
        table_width: Option<DefiniteLength>,
    },
}
```

**Why:**

The old API allowed callers to combine methods incorrectly. The new
enum-based design enforces correct usage at compile time and provides a
clearer path for adding independently resizable columns in PR #3.

**Context:**

This is part 2 of a 3-PR series improving data table column width
handling:
1. [#51059](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/51059) - Extract
modules into separate files (mechanical change)
2. **This PR**: Introduce width config enum for redistributable column
widths (API rework)
3. Implement independently resizable column widths (new feature)

The series builds on previously merged infrastructure:
- [#46341](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/46341) - Data
table dynamic column support
- [#46190](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/46190) - Variable

Primary beneficiary: CSV preview feature
([#48207](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/48207))

### Anthony's note

This PR also fixes the table dividers being a couple pixels off, and the
csv preview from having double line rendering for a single column in
some cases.

Add CSV preview with live table view and interactive features (#48207)
## **Description:**

**Context:**
This PR introduces an initial CSV preview feature for Zed, building upon
two previously merged infrastructure PRs:
- [#46341](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/46341) - Data
table dynamic column support (removed const generics)
- [#46190](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/46190) - Variable
row height mode for data tables

This implementation is based on the [original draft PR
#44344](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/44344), which has
been carefully decomposed into smaller, reviewable pieces.

---

#### **Features Included:**

**Core Infrastructure:**
- Live CSV parsing with smart debouncing (200ms cooldown)
- Performance monitoring with built-in timing metrics (not displayed in
UI yet)
- Automatic file change detection and re-parsing
- Support for quoted fields, multiline cells, and escaped characters

**Table Display:**
- Variable row height rendering with fallback to uniform mode
(switchable via settings)
- Draggable column resizing (reusing existing data table infrastructure)
- Row identifiers supporting both source line numbers and sequential row
numbers
- Configurable font rendering (UI font vs monospace)
- Tooltips showing full cell content on hover

**Interactive Features:**
- Column sorting (ascending/descending) with visual indicators

**Settings Panel:**
- Toggle between variable/uniform row rendering
- Font type selection (UI/monospace)
- Row identifier type configuration
- Debug information display
- Multiline cell rendering options

---

#### **Features Intentionally Removed for This PR:**

To reduce complexity and review scope, the following features were
temporarily reverted and will be reintroduced in subsequent PRs:

- Settings pannel with performance metrics overlay
- Cell selection (single, multiple, and range selections)
- Keyboard navigation with arrow keys and selection extension
- Copy functionality supporting CSV, TSV, and Markdown table formats
- Inline cell editing with file persistence
- Viewport following for large datasets
- Column filtering and search capabilities

These removals were done via "time-machine" commits that cleanly nuked
vertical slices of functionality from the complete implementation.

---

**Technical Implementation:**

The feature is organized into a dedicated `csv_preview` crate with the
following structure:

```
crates/csv_preview/
├── src/
│   ├── csv_preview.rs          # Main view and coordination logic
│   ├── parser.rs               # CSV parsing and editor integration
│   ├── settings.rs             # Configuration types and defaults
│   ├── table_data_engine.rs    # Data transformation logic
│   ├── renderer/               # UI rendering modules
│   │   ├── preview_view.rs     # Main render implementation
│   │   ├── render_table.rs     # Table component assembly
│   │   ├── table_cell.rs       # Individual cell rendering
│   │   ├── table_header.rs     # Header with sorting controls
│   │   └── row_identifiers.rs  # Line number column
│   └── types/                  # Core data structures
│       ├── table_like_content.rs
│       ├── coordinates.rs      # Display vs data coordinate systems
│       └── table_cell.rs
```

**Key architectural decisions:**
- **Dual coordinate system**: Separates data indices from display
indices to support sorting/filtering
- **Component reuse**: Leverages existing `data_table` infrastructure
from the keymap editor

---

**Integration:**
- Registers `csv::OpenPreview` action (currently without default
keybindings)
- Follows the same workspace integration pattern as `markdown_preview`
and `svg_preview`
- Automatically detects `.csv` file extensions
- Tab integration with appropriate icons and naming

---

**Code Structure Note:**
Some code structures, types, and documentation may appear redundant or
over-engineered in this initial implementation. This is intentional -
the feature was developed as a complete system and then decomposed by
functionality rather than being built incrementally. The "extra"
infrastructure supports features that were removed for this PR but will
be reintroduced in subsequent ones.

This approach was chosen over extensive refactoring because:
1. The complete feature took 200+ commits to develop with significant
rewrites
2. Clean extraction of vertical slices was more feasible than rebuilding
incrementally
3. The end state will utilize all these components, making current
"redundancy" temporary

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause during review, but the
alternative would have required significant refactoring effort just to
make intermediate states "prettier," which seemed counterproductive.

---

**Future Work:**
This lays the groundwork for upcoming PRs that will reintroduce the
removed features:
- Cell selection and keyboard navigation
- Copy functionality with multiple output formats
- Inline editing capabilities with undo/redo
- Column filtering and search
- TSV and other delimiter support
- Improved horizontal scrolling behavior
- Settings persistence

**Testing:**
Includes test fixtures demonstrating multiline cell handling, various
column counts, and edge cases.

**Release Notes:**

- N/A This is feature flagged
