agent_ui: Improve the new thread worktree UX (#53941)
Closes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/53262

- Remove the ability to pick a branch from the agent panel; delegate
this to the title bar picker
- Make the worktree creation earger, just as you selected whether you
want to create it from main or current branch
- Remove flicker when creating a new worktree and switching to a
previously existing one
- Improve some UI stuff: how we display that a worktree is
creating/loading, the branch and worktree icons, etc.
- Fixed a bug where worktrees in a detached HEAD state wouldn't show up
in the worktree pickers

A big part of the diff of this PR is the removal of everything involved
with the `StartThreadIn` enum/the set up involved in only creating the
worktree by the time of the first prompt send.

Release Notes:

- Agent: Improved and simplified the UX of creating threads in Git
worktrees.
- Git: Fixed a bug where worktrees in a detached HEAD state wouldn't
show up in the worktree picker.

Strong app state (#52602)
This PR upgrades the workspace's app state to a strong pointer. It's an
app-global concern, and it should only die when the app dies. When the
app dies the process exits, so the cyclic reference problem isn't an
issue.

Fix shared database test isolation (#51809)
All of the important changes are in
[`db.rs`](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/51809/changes#diff-2f644eab943bfa58feec29256281a3d9e8d4d7784cd34783e845af8beb15b16d).
Consider reading the commit log in order to review this work.

The DB crate's macro and API was changed to fix flakiness observed in
the MultiWorkspace tests when run locally. This flakiness was caused by
a shared `static LazyLock`, that caused concurrent test runs to interact
with the same underlying in-memory database. This flakiness wasn't
possible on CI due to it's usage of `cargo nextest`, whose
process-per-test approach masked this problem.

Essentially, I've changed the `static_connection` macro to remove the
static database variable and redone the internal model. Now, all
database types are thin wrappers around a generic `AppDatabase`. The
`AppDatabase` collects all of the individual table's migrations via the
`inventory` crate, and so only runs the migrations once on startup,
rather than a dozen times on startup.

The new API requires a `cx` so that we can replace the database returned
at runtime, rather than relying exclusively on a process-global
thread-local. However, we are still using a `static LazyLock` so that we
only need to take an `&App`, instead of an `&mut App`. These databases
types are `Clone + Send + Sync`, so you can easily capture-and-move the
database into background tasks and other places that don't have a `cx`.

For tests that require database isolation, it is now possible to set
their own database in init. See
[`workspace::init_test`](https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/pull/51809/changes#diff-041673bbd1947a35d45945636c0055429dfc8b5985faf93f8a8a960c9ad31e28R13610),
for the flakiness fix.

Best part, this change should be entirely compiler driven, so the Zed
agent was able to make the app-wide refactor easily.

Integrate scheduler crate into GPUI (#44810)
## Motivation

This PR unifies the async execution infrastructure between GPUI and
other components that depend on the `scheduler` crate (such as our cloud
codebase). By having a scheduler that lives independently of GPUI, we
can enable deterministic testing across the entire stack - testing GPUI
applications alongside cloud services with a single, unified scheduler.

## Summary

This PR completes the integration of the `scheduler` crate into GPUI,
unifying async execution and enabling deterministic testing of GPUI
combined with other components that depend on the scheduler crate.

## Key Changes

### Scheduler Integration (Phases 1-5, previously completed)
- `TestDispatcher` now delegates to `TestScheduler` for timing, clock,
RNG, and task scheduling
- `PlatformScheduler` implements the `Scheduler` trait for production
use
- GPUI executors wrap scheduler executors, selecting `TestScheduler` or
`PlatformScheduler` based on environment
- Unified blocking logic via `Scheduler::block()`

### Dead Code Cleanup
- Deleted orphaned `crates/gpui/src/platform/platform_scheduler.rs`
(older incompatible version)

## Intentional Removals

### `spawn_labeled` and `deprioritize` removed
The `TaskLabel` system (`spawn_labeled`, `deprioritize`) was removed
during this integration. It was only used in a few places for test
ordering control.

cc @maxbrunsfeld @as-cii - The new priority-weighted scheduling in
`TestScheduler` provides similar functionality through
`Priority::High/Medium/Low`. If `deprioritize` is important for specific
test scenarios, we could add it back to the scheduler crate. Let me know
if this is blocking anything.

### `start_waiting` / `finish_waiting` debug methods removed
Replaced by `TracingWaker` in `TestScheduler` - run tests with
`PENDING_TRACES=1` to see backtraces of pending futures when parking is
forbidden.

### Realtime Priority removed
The realtime priority feature was unused in the codebase. I'd prefer to
reintroduce it when we have an actual use case, as the implementation
(bounded channel with capacity 1) could potentially block the main
thread. Having a real use case will help us validate the design.

## Testing
- All GPUI tests pass
- All scheduler tests pass
- Clippy clean

- Enables lookup by id in preview extension implementations

- Should slightly improve the performance of ComponentPreview

It also brings component statuses to the Component trait:

Add searchable global tab switcher (#28047)
resolves #24655
resolves #23945

I haven't yet added a default binding for the new command. #27797 added `:ls` and
`:buffers` which in my opinion should use the global searchable version
given that that matches the vim semantics of those commands better than
just showing the tabs in the local pane.

There's also a question of what to do when you select a tab from another
pane, should the focus jump to that pane or should that tab move to the
currently focused pane? For now I've implemented the former.

Release Notes:

- Added `tab_switcher::ToggleAll` to search open tabs from all panes and focus the selected one.

Avoid unnecessary DB writes (#29417)
Part of https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/16472

* Adds debug logging to everywhere near INSERT/UPDATEs in the DB

So something like
`env RUST_LOG=debug,wasmtime_cranelift=off,cranelift_codegen=off,vte=off
cargo run` could be used to view these (current zlog seems to process
the exclusions odd, so not sure this is the optimal RUST_LOG line) can
be used to debug any further writes.

* Removes excessive window stack serialization

Previously, it serialized unconditionally every 100ms.
Now, only if the stack had changed, which is now check every 500ms.

* Removes excessive terminal serialization

Previously, it serialized its `cwd` on every `ItemEvent::UpdateTab`
which was caused by e.g. any character output.
Now, only if the `cwd` has changed at the next event processing time.

Add workspace-hack (#27277)
This adds a "workspace-hack" crate, see
[mozilla's](https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/file/3a265fdc9f33e5946f0ca0a04af73acd7e6d1a39/build/workspace-hack/Cargo.toml#l7)
for a concise explanation of why this is useful. For us in practice this
means that if I were to run all the tests (`cargo nextest r
--workspace`) and then `cargo r`, all the deps from the previous cargo
command will be reused. Before this PR it would rebuild many deps due to
resolving different sets of features for them. For me this frequently
caused long rebuilds when things "should" already be cached.

To avoid manually maintaining our workspace-hack crate, we will use
[cargo hakari](https://docs.rs/cargo-hakari) to update the build files
when there's a necessary change. I've added a step to CI that checks
whether the workspace-hack crate is up to date, and instructs you to
re-run `script/update-workspace-hack` when it fails.

Finally, to make sure that people can still depend on crates in our
workspace without pulling in all the workspace deps, we use a `[patch]`
section following [hakari's
instructions](https://docs.rs/cargo-hakari/0.9.36/cargo_hakari/patch_directive/index.html)

One possible followup task would be making guppy use our
`rust-toolchain.toml` instead of having to duplicate that list in its
config, I opened an issue for that upstream: guppy-rs/guppy#481.

- [x] Fix the extension test failure
- [x] Ensure the dev dependencies aren't being unified by Hakari into

Rework git toasts (#26420)
The notifications from git output could take up variable amounts of
screen space, and they were quite obnoxious when a git command printed
lots of output, such as fetching many new branches or verbose push
hooks.

This change makes the push/pull/fetch buttons trigger a small
notification toast, based on the output of the command that was ran. For
errors or commands with more output the user may want to see, there's an
"Open Log" button which opens a new buffer with the output of that
command.

It also uses this behavior for long error notifications for other git
commands like `commit` and `checkout`. The output of those commands can
be quite long due to arbitrary githooks running.

These are designed to be used for notifying about things that don't
require an action to be taken or don't need to be triaged. They are
designed to be ignorable, and dismiss themselves automatically after a
set time.

They can optionally include a single action.

Example: When the user enables Vim Mode, that action might let them undo
enabling it.

Status Toasts should _not_ be used when an action is required, or for
any binary choice.

If the user must provide some input, this isn't the right component!

### Out of scope

- Toasts should fade over a short time (like AnimationDuration::Fast or
Instant) when dismissed
- We should visually show when the toast will dismiss. We'll need to
pipe the `duration_remaining` from the toast layer -> ActiveToast to do
this.
- Dismiss any active toast if another notification kind is created, like
a Notification or Alert.

git_ui: New panel design (#25821)
This PR updates the ui of the git panel. It removes the header from the
panel and unifies the repository, branch and commit controls in the
bottom section.

It also adds a secondary menu to the primary button giving access to a
variety of actions for managing local and remote changes:

- Spinner showing git operation progress was removed, will be re-added
- Clicking expand with the panel editor focused will commit (due to
shared action name. Already tracked)

component: Add component and component_preview crates to power UI components (#24456)
This PR formalizes design components with the Component and
ComponentPreview traits.

You can open the preview UI with `workspace: open component preview`.

Component previews no longer need to return `Self` allowing for more
complex previews, and previews of components like `ui::Tooltip` that
supplement other components rather than are rendered by default.

`cargo-machete` incorrectly identifies `linkme` as an unused dep on
crates that have components deriving `IntoComponent`, so you may need to
add this to that crate's `Cargo.toml`:

```toml
# cargo-machete doesn't understand that linkme is used in the component macro
[package.metadata.cargo-machete]
ignored = ["linkme"]
```
