copilot_ui: Fix Copilot sign-in window focus on Hyprland (#59933)
# Objective

The Copilot sign-in dialog was created without an `app_id` or window
title, resulting in an empty WM class/title on Linux. Tiling window
managers with class-based no-focus rules (like Hyprland's default
configuration in Omarchy) treat such windows as anonymous popups and
refuse to focus them, making the dialog impossible to interact with.

## Solution

Set both `app_id` and window title on the Copilot code verification
window, following the established pattern used in other UI components
like `agent_ui` and `settings_ui`.

Added `release_channel` as a dependency to
`crates/copilot_ui/Cargo.toml` and called
`app_id(ReleaseChannel::app_id(cx))` and `window_title("Use GitHub
Copilot in Zed")` in `open_copilot_code_verification_window`.

## Testing

Verified on Hyprland (Omarchy) by inspecting window properties with
`hyprctl clients`:

**Before (empty class/title):**

```
Window 5606ee1dd280 -> :
    class:
    title:
    acceptsInput: 0
```

**After (with proper class/title):**

```
Window 5606ee22b660 -> Use GitHub Copilot in Zed:
    class: dev.zed.Zed-Dev
    title: Use GitHub Copilot in Zed
    acceptsInput: 1
```

The dialog now receives keyboard focus and mouse input correctly on
Hyprland. I tested on Linux only; this fix lives in the window creation
call so it is a no-op on macOS and Windows where `app_id` is ignored.

Typed workspace errors (#57649)
This migrates the `Workspace::show_error` method to take a generic type
that implements `WorkspaceError` instead. That trait containts methods
to show a proper error message but most importantly means to help with
providing actions given certain errors.

The intention for this is rather easy: Whenever we show an error to the
user on the workspace level, that error should be
- actionable to a degree, even if that is only opening logs or whatnot
- show a message that is understandable to the user
- for not-too-critical errors, should hide after a certain delay and not
force the user to dismiss it using their mouse.

For now, there exist trait implementations for string error types and
anyhow errors. The long term goal here is to get rid of these altogether
and migrate everything to be strongly typed and especially actionable
instead.

Strong app state (#52602)
This PR upgrades the workspace's app state to a strong pointer. It's an

ui: Refactor the Button component icon methods (#51496)
Previously, if you wanted to have a button that contains icons on both
edges, you'd need to use a `ButtonLike` component, which takes any
children. Meanwhile, the `Button` would only take one icon, where you
could control its position through the `IconPosition` enum. This has
always felt unnecessarily limiting. So, this PR removes this limitation
by adding two new methods to the button: `start_icon` and `end_icon`.

In the meantime, I have also been bothered by the unnecessary
indirection in the `IconButton` due to the existence of the `ButtonIcon`
component. So I figured I could also completely eliminate that by adding
some of its methods directly to the `IconButton` and in the Button, just
using a regular `Icon` component.

---
## Before
```rust
Button::new("id", "Label")
    .icon(IconName::Plus)
    .icon_position(IconPosition::Start)
    .icon_size(IconSize::Small)
    .icon_color(Color::Muted)
```

## After
```rust
Button::new("id", "Label")
    .start_icon(Icon::new(IconName::Check))
    .end_icon(Icon::new(IconName::ChevronDown).size(IconSize::XSmall))
```

This should have no visual impact to the UI.

Add telemetry for user-facing notifications (#48558)
## Summary

Adds a "Notification Shown" telemetry event that fires whenever a
user-facing notification is displayed in Zed. This helps the team
understand error patterns, notification frequency, and which parts of
the application generate the most notifications.

## Event Schema

| Property | Type | Description |
|----------|------|-------------|
| `notification_type` | `string` | `"error"` or `"notification"` |
| `source` | `string` | Origin category (e.g., `lsp`, `git`, `settings`,
`editor`) |
| `lsp_name` | `string?` | Language server name (only for LSP
notifications) |
| `level` | `string?` | Severity: `"critical"`, `"warning"`, or `"info"`
|
| `has_actions` | `bool` | Whether the notification has action buttons |
| `notification_id` | `string` | Debug string of the NotificationId |
| `is_auto_dismissing` | `bool` | Whether the notification
auto-dismisses |

## NotificationSource Categories

A new `NotificationSource` enum categorizes notifications by origin:

- `lsp` - Language server notifications
- `settings` - Settings/keymap parse errors
- `update` - App updates, release notes
- `extension` - Extension suggestions/errors
- `git` - Git operations, commit errors
- `project` - Project-level issues
- `collab` - Collaboration notifications
- `remote` - SSH/remote project errors
- `file` - File access errors
- `editor` - Editor operations (search, encoding)
- `agent` - AI assistant notifications
- `cli` - CLI installation
- `system` - Generic fallback

## Privacy

**Message content is intentionally not included** in telemetry because:
- LSP messages come from external servers and may contain file paths or
error chains
- Error messages may contain sensitive paths or API-related information
- The metadata alone provides sufficient insight for error tracking

## Implementation

Updated function signatures to include `NotificationSource`:
- `show_notification(id, source, cx, build_fn)`
- `show_toast(toast, source, cx)`
- `show_error(err, source, cx)`
- `show_app_notification(id, source, cx, build_fn)`
- `notify_err(workspace, source, cx)`
- `notify_async_err(source, cx)`
- `notify_app_err(source, cx)`
- `detach_and_notify_err(source, window, cx)`

Release Notes

- N/A (internal telemetry change)

Refactor workspace notifications to use explicit NotificationId type (#10342)
This PR reworks the way workspace notifications are identified to use a
new `NotificationId` type.

A `NotificationId` is bound to a given type that is used as a unique
identifier. Generally this will be a unit struct that can be used to
uniquely identify this notification.

A `NotificationId` can also accept an optional `ElementId` in order to
distinguish between different notifications of the same type.

This system avoids the issue we had previously of selecting `usize` IDs
somewhat arbitrarily and running the risk of having two independent
notifications collide (and thus interfere with each other).

This also fixes a bug where multiple suggestion notifications for the
same extension could be live at once

Fixes https://github.com/zed-industries/zed/issues/10320.

Improve the ergonomics of creating local buffers (#10347)
This PR renames `language::Buffer::new` to `language::Buffer::local` and
simplifies its interface. Instead of taking a replica id (which should
always be 0 for the local case) and a `BufferId`, which was awkward and
verbose to construct, it simply takes text and a `cx`.

It uses the `cx` to derive a `BufferId` from the `EntityId` associated
with the `cx`, which should always be positive based on the following
analysis...

We convert the entity id to a u64 using this method on `EntityId`, which
is defined by macros in the `slotmap` crate:

```rust
    pub fn as_ffi(self) -> u64 {
        (u64::from(self.version.get()) << 32) | u64::from(self.idx)
    }
```

If you look at the type of `version` in `KeyData`, it is non-zero:

```rust
#[derive(Clone, Copy, PartialEq, Eq, PartialOrd, Ord, Hash)]
pub struct KeyData {
    idx: u32,
    version: NonZeroU32,
}
```

This commit also adds `Context::reserve_model` and
`Context::insert_model` to determine a model's entity ID before it is
created, which we need in order to assign a `BufferId` in the background
when loading a buffer asynchronously.

Introduce InlineCompletionProvider (#9777)
This pull request introduces a new `InlineCompletionProvider` trait,
which enables making `Editor` copilot-agnostic and lets us push all the
copilot functionality into the `copilot_ui` module. Long-term, I would
like to merge `copilot` and `copilot_ui`, but right now `project`
depends on `copilot`, which makes this impossible.

The reason for adding this new trait is so that we can experiment with
other inline completion providers and swap them at runtime using config
settings.

Please, note also that we renamed some of the existing copilot actions
to be more agnostic (see release notes below). We still kept the old
actions bound for backwards-compatibility, but we should probably remove
them at some later version.

Also, as a drive-by, we added new methods to the `Global` trait that let
you read or mutate a global directly, e.g.:

```rs
MyGlobal::update(cx, |global, cx| {
});
```

Release Notes:

- Renamed the `copilot::Suggest` action to
`editor::ShowInlineCompletion`
- Renamed the `copilot::NextSuggestion` action to

- Renamed the `copilot::PreviousSuggestion` action to

Add a setting for custom associations between languages and files (#9290)
Closes #5178

Release Notes:

- Added a `file_types` setting that can be used to associate languages
with file names and file extensions. For example, to interpret all `.c`

to `settings.json`:

    ```json
    {
      "file_types": {
        "C++": ["c"],
        "TOML": ["MyLockFile"]
      }
    }
    ```

As with most zed settings, this can be configured on a per-directory
basis by including a local `.zed/settings.json` file in that directory.

Move Clippy configuration to the workspace level (#8891)
This PR moves the Clippy configuration up to the workspace level.

We're using the [`lints`
table](https://doc.rust-lang.org/cargo/reference/workspaces.html#the-lints-table)

Each crate in the workspace now has the following in their own
`Cargo.toml` to inherit the lints from the workspace:

```toml
This allows for configuring rust-analyzer to show Clippy lints in the
Remove unneeded 'static lifetimes on &strs in constants (#8698)
This PR removes unneeded `'static` lifetimes on `&str`s stored in
`const` declarations.
This addresses some Clippy lints about
[`redundant_static_lifetimes`](https://rust-lang.github.io/rust-clippy/master/index.html#/redundant_static_lifetimes).
In item-level `const` declarations we can rely on lifetime elision and
use the default `'static` lifetime.
Note that associated constants still require an explicit `'static`
lifetime, as explained in
https://github.com/rust-lang/rust/issues/115010.
Add information to Copilot sign-in UI when disabled (#7496)
I'd love to take on fixing this but:
1. I don't think this is the right solution - it would be really nice to
have something actionable that I could do when presented with this
message.
2. Should signing in to Copilot be independent from whether it's
enabled? You can only access the sign-in modal when `features.copilot`
isn't disabled, but when `show_copilot_suggestions` is `false` the
server is disabled but you can't sign in. So I guess another solution
might be to just not show the UI if copilot suggestions are disabled?
3. I don't know what other circumstances could trigger the empty modal.
I see `Status::Error` and that seems like it might be important to
surface gracefully?
Would love some thoughts on this
WIP: Add a setting to visually redact enviroment variables (#7124)
Release Notes:
- Added bash syntax highlighting to `.env` files.
- Added a `private_files` setting for configuring which files should be
considered to contain environment variables or other sensitive
information.
- Added a `redact_private_values` setting to add or remove censor bars
over variable values in files matching the `private_files` patterns.
-(internal) added a new `redactions.scm` query to our language support,
allowing different config file formats to indicate where environment
variable values can be identified in the syntax tree, added this query
to `bash`, `json`, `toml`, and `yaml` files.
