feat: add --config and --steps CLI flags for programmatic setup (#2545)
* feat: add Telegram and WhatsApp options to OpenClaw setup picker

Adds separate "Telegram" and "WhatsApp" checkboxes to the OpenClaw
setup screen:

- Telegram: prompts for bot token from @BotFather, injects into
OpenClaw config via `openclaw config set`
- WhatsApp: reminds user to scan QR code via the web dashboard
after launch (no CLI setup possible)

Updates USER.md with channel-specific guidance when either is selected.

Bump CLI version to 0.16.16.

* feat: run WhatsApp QR scan interactively before TUI launch

Instead of punting WhatsApp setup to "after launch", runs
`openclaw channels login --channel whatsapp` as an interactive SSH
session between gateway start and TUI launch. The user scans the
QR code with their phone during provisioning setup.

Flow: gateway starts → tunnel set up → WhatsApp QR scan → TUI launch

* fix: update WhatsApp hint to reflect pre-TUI QR scanning

* feat: add --config and --steps CLI flags for programmatic setup

Add --config <path> flag to load spawn options from a JSON config file
(model, steps, name, setup data like telegram_bot_token). Add --steps
<list> flag for comma-separated setup step control. Both enable the
web UI and headless automation to control which setup steps run.

Priority order: CLI flags > --config file > env vars > defaults.

- New spawn-config.ts module with valibot validation
- OptionalStep extended with dataEnvVar and interactive metadata
- validateStepNames() for step name validation with warnings
- Telegram setup reads TELEGRAM_BOT_TOKEN env var before prompting
- WhatsApp auto-skipped in headless mode with warning
- promptSetupOptions() skipped when SPAWN_ENABLED_STEPS already set
- E2E verify helpers for github, browser, telegram setup artifacts
- QA reference file documenting all agent setup options
- Version bump to 0.17.0

* feat: add --model flag and priority order tests

- Add --model <id> CLI flag that sets MODEL_ID env var
- --model is extracted before --config so it takes priority
- Add config-priority.test.ts with 8 tests verifying:
  - --model overrides config model
  - --steps overrides config steps
  - --steps "" disables all steps
  - --name overrides config name
  - Config tokens apply as defaults
  - Explicit env vars override config tokens
- Remove preferences.json from priority order docs (not needed)
- Add --model to help text and unknown-flag guidance

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* docs: add --model, --config, --steps to README

Document config file format, setup steps table, and new CLI flags
in the commands table.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix: address security review feedback

- Move null byte check before path resolution (defense-in-depth)
- Move agent-setup-options.md from .claude/rules/ to .docs/ (git-ignored)
  per documentation policy

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix: resolve rebase conflicts and deduplicate --model flag extraction

Rebase on main introduced a duplicate --model flag extraction block
(one from the PR at line 804, one from main at line 941). Consolidated
into the single early extraction point with -m shorthand support.
Also removed duplicate --model entry from KNOWN_FLAGS set.

feat: add --model flag and preferences file for LLM model override (#2543)
Adds --model / -m CLI flag to override the agent's default LLM model:
  spawn codex gcp --model openai/gpt-5.3-codex

Also supports persistent per-agent model preferences via config file at
~/.config/spawn/preferences.json:
  { "models": { "codex": "openai/gpt-5.3-codex" } }

Priority: --model flag > preferences file > agent default.

This enables a future web UI to pass model selection via CLI args when
invoking spawn programmatically to provision machines.

fix(status): add -a/--agent and -c/--cloud filter flags to spawn status (#2379)
`spawn status` silently ignored -a and -c flags, showing all servers
regardless. This is inconsistent with `spawn list` and `spawn delete`
which both support these filters.

- Update `cmdStatus` to accept `agentFilter`/`cloudFilter` options and
  pass them to `filterHistory()`
- Update `dispatchStatusCommand` to parse filter flags using the shared
  `parseListFilters` helper (same as list/delete)
- Document filter flags in help text for `spawn status`
- Bump version to 0.15.27

fix: add unique spawn IDs to prevent history record corruption (#2235)
* fix: add unique spawn IDs to prevent history record corruption

History records were matched by heuristic ("most recent record for this
cloud without a connection"), which caused saveVmConnection and
saveLaunchCmd to overwrite the wrong record during concurrent or failed
spawns.

Fix: every SpawnRecord now has a unique `id` (UUID). All history
operations (saveVmConnection, saveLaunchCmd, removeRecord,
markRecordDeleted, mergeLastConnection) match by id when available,
falling back to the old heuristic for pre-migration records.

The orchestrator (TS path) now creates the history record AFTER server
creation succeeds, not before — so failed provisions don't leave orphan
entries.

Also adds "Remove from history" option to the spawn ls action picker,
restoring the ability to soft-delete entries without destroying the VM.

* test: add 18 unit tests for spawn ID history behavior

Tests cover:
- generateSpawnId returns unique UUIDs
- saveSpawnRecord auto-generates id when not provided
- saveVmConnection matches by spawnId (not heuristic)
- saveVmConnection does not cross-contaminate concurrent spawns
- saveVmConnection falls back to heuristic without spawnId
- saveLaunchCmd matches by spawnId (not heuristic)
- saveLaunchCmd falls back without spawnId
- removeRecord matches by id, not by timestamp+agent+cloud
- removeRecord handles duplicate timestamps correctly
- removeRecord falls back for legacy records without id
- markRecordDeleted targets correct record by id
- mergeLastConnection uses spawn_id from last-connection.json
- mergeLastConnection falls back to heuristic without spawn_id

* style: enable biome import sorting with grouped imports

Adds organizeImports to biome assist config with groups:
1. Type imports
2. Node built-ins
3. Third-party packages
4. @openrouter/* packages
5. Aliases

Auto-fixed import order and lint issues across all TypeScript files,
including .claude/skills/ and packages/cli/src/.

feat: add --zone/--region and --size/--machine-type CLI flags (#2223)
Adds cross-cloud flags for specifying zone/region and instance size
directly from the command line instead of env vars:

spawn claude gcp --zone us-east1-b --size e2-standard-4
spawn claude digitalocean --region lon1 --size s-4vcpu-8gb
spawn claude hetzner --zone ash --size cx32

Each flag maps to the appropriate cloud-specific env var:
  --zone/--region → GCP_ZONE, DO_REGION, HETZNER_LOCATION, AWS_DEFAULT_REGION
  --size/--machine-type → GCP_MACHINE_TYPE, DO_DROPLET_SIZE, HETZNER_SERVER_TYPE, LIGHTSAIL_BUNDLE

feat: migrate to openrouter.ai/labs/spawn CDN + release artifact version checks (#2178)
* feat: migrate shell script URLs to openrouter.ai/labs/spawn CDN

Users on older CLI versions can't auto-update because the repo was restructured
(cli/ → packages/cli/), so old version-check URLs 404. This decouples the CLI
from the repo's internal directory structure:

- Shell script URLs (install, agent scripts, github-auth) now use
openrouter.ai/labs/spawn/* as primary with GitHub raw as fallback
- Version checks now use GitHub release artifact (cli-latest/version)
as primary — a static URL that never changes regardless of repo layout
- CI workflow updated to publish a `version` file alongside cli.js
- Remove GITHUB_RAW_URL_PATTERN validation (no longer needed since
install URL is now a hardcoded CDN string, not interpolated)

* style: fix biome formatting in update-check test

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix: CLAUDE.md says biome lint but should say biome check

biome lint only checks lint rules, not formatting. biome check does both.
The hooks and CI already run biome check — the docs were out of sync.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(hooks): PostToolUse hook wasn't running biome on CLI source files

Two bugs in validate-file.ts:

1. Config search only checked 1-2 levels up from the edited file, but
   biome.json is at packages/cli/ — 3 levels above src/__tests__/*.ts.
Fix: walk up directories until biome.json is found (or hit root).

2. Ran `biome format` (prints formatted output, always exits 0) instead
of `biome format --check` (exits non-zero if file needs formatting).
Fix: use `biome check` which does lint + format check in one pass.

refactor: split commands.ts into per-command modules (#2095)
* refactor: split commands.ts into per-command modules

commands.ts (3,522 lines) is split into focused modules under
packages/cli/src/commands/:
- shared.ts: helpers, entity resolution, credentials
- interactive.ts: cmdInteractive, cmdAgentInteractive
- run.ts: cmdRun, cmdRunHeadless
- list.ts: cmdList, cmdLast, cmdListClear
- delete.ts: cmdDelete
- info.ts: cmdMatrix, cmdAgents, cmdClouds, cmdAgentInfo, cmdCloudInfo
- update.ts: cmdUpdate
- help.ts: cmdHelp
- pick.ts: cmdPick
- index.ts: barrel re-export

commands.ts is kept as a 2-line compatibility shim so all existing
imports from "./commands.js" continue to work unchanged.
