docs: sync README with source of truth (#2594)
Add missing `spawn feedback` command to commands table.

The command exists in packages/cli/src/commands/help.ts
getHelpUsageSection() but was absent from the README commands table.

Source-of-truth delta: help.ts line 42 adds 'spawn feedback "message"'
with description 'Send feedback to the Spawn team'.

feat: add --beta images for DO marketplace images (#2593)
* feat: add --beta images for DO marketplace images

Gate pre-built DigitalOcean marketplace images behind --beta images.
When active, uses hardcoded marketplace slugs (e.g. openrouter-spawnclaude)
instead of fresh Ubuntu + cloud-init, skipping agent install entirely.

All 8 images verified working via e2e smoke test (2026-03-13).

docs: sync README commands table with help.ts source of truth (#2573)
Remove --beta <feature> row from the commands table in README — this flag is
not listed in getHelpUsageSection() in commands/help.ts, which is the source
of truth for the commands table.

feat: add --config and --steps CLI flags for programmatic setup (#2545)
* feat: add Telegram and WhatsApp options to OpenClaw setup picker

Adds separate "Telegram" and "WhatsApp" checkboxes to the OpenClaw
setup screen:

- Telegram: prompts for bot token from @BotFather, injects into
OpenClaw config via `openclaw config set`
- WhatsApp: reminds user to scan QR code via the web dashboard
after launch (no CLI setup possible)

Updates USER.md with channel-specific guidance when either is selected.

Bump CLI version to 0.16.16.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat: run WhatsApp QR scan interactively before TUI launch

Instead of punting WhatsApp setup to "after launch", runs
`openclaw channels login --channel whatsapp` as an interactive SSH
session between gateway start and TUI launch. The user scans the
QR code with their phone during provisioning setup.

Flow: gateway starts → tunnel set up → WhatsApp QR scan → TUI launch

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix: update WhatsApp hint to reflect pre-TUI QR scanning

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat: add --config and --steps CLI flags for programmatic setup

Add --config <path> flag to load spawn options from a JSON config file
(model, steps, name, setup data like telegram_bot_token). Add --steps
<list> flag for comma-separated setup step control. Both enable the
web UI and headless automation to control which setup steps run.

Priority order: CLI flags > --config file > env vars > defaults.

- New spawn-config.ts module with valibot validation
- OptionalStep extended with dataEnvVar and interactive metadata
- validateStepNames() for step name validation with warnings
- Telegram setup reads TELEGRAM_BOT_TOKEN env var before prompting
- WhatsApp auto-skipped in headless mode with warning
- promptSetupOptions() skipped when SPAWN_ENABLED_STEPS already set
- E2E verify helpers for github, browser, telegram setup artifacts
- QA reference file documenting all agent setup options
- Version bump to 0.17.0

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat: add --model flag and priority order tests

- Add --model <id> CLI flag that sets MODEL_ID env var
- --model is extracted before --config so it takes priority
- Add config-priority.test.ts with 8 tests verifying:
  - --model overrides config model
  - --steps overrides config steps
  - --steps "" disables all steps
  - --name overrides config name
  - Config tokens apply as defaults
  - Explicit env vars override config tokens
- Remove preferences.json from priority order docs (not needed)
- Add --model to help text and unknown-flag guidance

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* docs: add --model, --config, --steps to README

Document config file format, setup steps table, and new CLI flags
in the commands table.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix: address security review feedback

- Move null byte check before path resolution (defense-in-depth)
- Move agent-setup-options.md from .claude/rules/ to .docs/ (git-ignored)
  per documentation policy

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix: resolve rebase conflicts and deduplicate --model flag extraction

Rebase on main introduced a duplicate --model flag extraction block
(one from the PR at line 804, one from main at line 941). Consolidated
into the single early extraction point with -m shorthand support.
Also removed duplicate --model entry from KNOWN_FLAGS set.

feat!: remove Fly.io cloud provider support (#1979)
* feat!: remove Fly.io cloud provider support

Drop Fly.io as a supported cloud provider. Sprite (which uses Fly.io
infrastructure internally) is retained.

- Delete packages/cli/src/fly/ module, sh/fly/ scripts, fixtures/fly/
- Remove fly cloud entry and 6 fly matrix entries from manifest.json
- Remove fly imports, destroy cases, and connection handlers from commands.ts
- Remove fly-ssh sentinel from security.ts
- Port E2E test suite from Fly.io to AWS Lightsail (fly-e2e.sh → aws-e2e.sh)
- Update README (7 clouds, 42 combinations), CLAUDE.md, and skill prompts
- Clean up fly references in build config, gitignore, icon sources
- Bump CLI version to 0.11.0

feat: Bun workspace monorepo — packages/cli + packages/shared (#1853)
Restructure the repo as a Bun workspace monorepo:

- Move cli/ → packages/cli/
- Create packages/shared/ (@openrouter/spawn-shared) with type-guards and parse utilities
- Add root package.json with workspace configuration
- Update all CLI imports to use @openrouter/spawn-shared
- Deduplicate toRecord/toObjectArray helpers from 4 cloud modules
- Update SPA (slack-bot) to use shared package instead of local toObj()
- Update 48 agent shell scripts for new packages/cli/ path
- Update install.sh, install.ps1, e2e, and test scripts
- Update all GitHub workflows, .gitignore, pre-commit hooks
- Update CLAUDE.md, README.md, and skill prompt references
- Pin all dependency versions (no ^ ranges)
- Bump CLI version 0.9.1 → 0.10.0

All 1908 tests pass. Lint clean. All 8 cloud bundles build.

refactor: move all shell scripts to /sh directory (#1843)
Reorganizes the project so all shell scripts live under a dedicated
/sh directory, enabling the OpenRouter rewrite URL to point at /sh/
instead of the repository root.

Moves:
- cli/install.sh → sh/cli/install.sh
- shared/*.sh → sh/shared/*.sh
- {cloud}/{agent}.sh → sh/{cloud}/{agent}.sh (48 scripts)
- {cloud}/README.md → sh/{cloud}/README.md
- e2e/*.sh → sh/e2e/*.sh
- test/macos-compat.sh → sh/test/macos-compat.sh
- test/fixtures/**/*.sh → sh/test/fixtures/**/*.sh

Updates all references:
- RAW_BASE path construction in commands.ts, update-check.ts
- GitHub auth URL in agent-setup.ts
- Self-referencing URLs in install.sh, github-auth.sh
- CI workflow paths in lint.yml, cli-release.yml
- Test file paths in install-script-validation, manifest-integrity
- Documentation in README.md, cli/README.md, CLAUDE.md
- QA scripts in .claude/skills/

refactor: remove shared/common.sh and 27 subprocess-heavy test files (#1728)
shared/common.sh (3852 lines) was dead code — the entire architecture
was rewritten to TypeScript in cli/src/. No agent scripts source it
anymore. The only consumer was github-auth.sh which just needed 4
log functions (now inlined).

Remove 27 test files that spawned ~800+ real bash/bun subprocesses per
run (the root cause of slow bun test). Every shared-common-*.test.ts
file forked a real bash shell per test case to source shared/common.sh.
CLI subprocess tests spawned `bun run index.ts` per assertion. These
were integration tests, not unit tests.

Also removes:
- mock-tests CI job from test.yml (ran test/mock.sh which opens browser)
- Stale plan files referencing deleted infrastructure
- All CLAUDE.md/README.md references to the old lib/common.sh pattern

feat: add Windows PowerShell installer (install.ps1) (#1610)
The only existing installer (install.sh) is bash-only and fails silently
on Windows PowerShell — 'curl ... | bash' errors because bash.exe is not
available outside WSL.

install.ps1 implements the same logic as install.sh for PowerShell:
- Checks bun >= 1.2.0; installs via bun.sh/install.ps1 if missing
- Downloads CLI source via git sparse-checkout or GitHub API fallback
- Builds with 'bun install && bun run build'; falls back to pre-built binary
- Installs to %USERPROFILE%\.local\bin (or SPAWN_INSTALL_DIR override)
- Creates spawn.cmd wrapper for cmd.exe compatibility
- Adds install dir to the user's persistent PATH if not already present

Usage:
  irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OpenRouterTeam/spawn/main/cli/install.ps1 | iex

README updated with Windows PowerShell install instructions alongside
the existing macOS/Linux/WSL command.

feat: reorder agents and remove NanoClaw (#1477)
* feat: add ZeroClaw agent (14.9k stars, native OpenRouter support)

Add ZeroClaw — a Rust-based autonomous AI assistant framework by
Harvard/MIT/Sundai.Club communities — across all 8 clouds.

Scripts: local, hetzner, digitalocean, fly, aws, gcp, daytona, sprite
Install: bootstrap.sh with --install-rust + --install-system-deps
Config: zeroclaw onboard --provider openrouter (via agent_configure)
Env: OPENROUTER_API_KEY + ZEROCLAW_PROVIDER=openrouter (native support)
Launch: zeroclaw agent

Note: ZeroClaw compiles from Rust source (~5-10 min build time).
A build-time warning is shown to set expectations.

Also update test/mock-curl-script.sh to stub zeroclaw install URLs and
add zeroclaw to mock agent binaries in test/mock.sh.

Bump CLI version 0.5.8 → 0.5.9.

* feat: reorder agents and remove NanoClaw

New agent order: claude → openclaw → zeroclaw → codex → opencode → kilocode

- Remove NanoClaw (8 scripts + manifest entry + matrix entries + README row)
- Reorder manifest.json agents section to match new order
- Reorder matrix entries by cloud (local/hetzner/fly/aws/daytona/digitalocean/gcp/sprite)

feat: remove OVH cloud and make featured_cloud an array (#1474)
- Remove OVH as a cloud provider: delete ovh/ directory (lib + 11 agent
scripts), remove from manifest.json clouds and all ovh/* matrix entries,
update README matrix table, remove OVH destroy case in CLI commands,
and clean up all test harness references (mock.sh, mock-curl-script.sh,
  record.sh, e2e.sh, cloud-lib-api-surface.test.ts, test-infra-sync.test.ts)

- Make featured_cloud an array (string[]) so agents can recommend multiple
clouds; update manifest.ts type, all 10 manifest.json values, and the
  prioritizeCloudsByCredentials() comparison in commands.ts

- Sandbox OAuth in subprocess tests: add OPENROUTER_API_KEY=sk-or-test-fake
to the default env in cli-entry-edge-cases.test.ts and
cmdrun-resolution.test.ts so get_or_prompt_api_key() never triggers the
real OAuth browser flow during test runs

- Fix upload-file-security.test.ts SSH cloud count (5→4) after OVH removal

- Bump CLI version 0.5.6 → 0.5.7

feat: prioritize clouds with CLI installed + hcloud CLI integration (#1375)
* fix: auto-run gcloud auth login on expired GCP tokens

Instead of telling users to run `gcloud auth login` manually, just

a reauthentication error, then retry.

* feat: prioritize clouds with CLI installed + hcloud CLI integration

When selecting a cloud provider, clouds are now sorted in 3 tiers:
1. Credentials detected (env vars set) — top priority
2. CLI installed (e.g., gcloud, hcloud, aws) — middle priority
3. Neither — default order

Also adds hcloud CLI-first support for Hetzner operations (server
create/delete/list, SSH key management, auth) with automatic fallback
to the existing REST API when hcloud is not available.

Closes #1370

* refactor: rename aws-lightsail to aws across the project

Simplifies the cloud key from "aws-lightsail" to "aws" — AWS should
have a single entry regardless of the underlying service used.

ux: clarify that 149/150 combinations are working (local/opencode missing) (#1343)
The tagline claimed "149 combinations" without context. Users might think
this is a limitation or wonder why 15×10=150. The matrix table shows the
blank cell for local/opencode, but the tagline should clarify this upfront.

ux: complete commands table in README (#1336)
Add missing commands to README commands table for consistency with CLI help:
- spawn <cloud> (show available agents)
- spawn list <filter> (filter by agent/cloud name)
- spawn list -a/-c (explicit filters)
- spawn list --clear (clear history)
- spawn last (rerun most recent)
- spawn help (show help)
- spawn version (show version)

Updated descriptions to match CLI help output exactly.

fix: update help examples to reference existing clouds and document --debug flag (#1350)
UX improvements:
- Replace outdated cloud references (vultr/linode) with existing clouds (ovh/gcp) in help examples
- Add missing --debug flag to README commands table
- Ensure all documented examples reference clouds that exist in the matrix

These changes prevent user confusion when following examples in help text
and documentation.

docs: fix misleading Sprite authentication example in README (#1328)
The README incorrectly showed SPRITE_API_KEY as an environment variable,
but Sprite uses 'sprite login' for authentication (no API key needed).

Changes:
- Remove SPRITE_API_KEY example from non-interactive mode section
- Add clarifying note that Sprite uses 'sprite login'
- Change example command from 'spawn claude sprite' to 'spawn claude hetzner'
since Hetzner actually uses an API token (HCLOUD_TOKEN)

This prevents user confusion when trying to authenticate with Sprite.

ux: add comprehensive troubleshooting section to README (#1359)
Add a new Troubleshooting section to the README with three subsections:
- Installation issues: bun version checks, manual installation, PATH setup
- Agent launch failures: credential checks, cloud alternatives, dry-run usage
- Getting help: command history, version checks, bug reporting

This helps users quickly resolve common issues without searching through
issues or documentation. Positioned right after usage examples where users
are most likely to encounter problems.

fix: correct README matrix to show actual 10 clouds instead of misleading 38 (#1314)
The README showed 38 cloud providers with 531 combinations, but manifest.json
only defines 10 clouds with 149 implemented combinations. This was extremely
misleading to users who would see checkmarks for providers that don't exist.

Updated:
- README tagline: 38 clouds → 10 clouds, 531 → 149 combinations
- Matrix table: removed 28 non-existent cloud columns
- Matrix now accurately reflects manifest.json (local, oracle, hetzner, ovh,
fly, aws-lightsail, daytona, digitalocean, gcp, sprite)

Only missing entry is local/opencode (all other 149 combinations implemented).

fix(ux): update README matrix to include Webdock and Alibaba Cloud (#1043)
The README hero line and matrix table were stale -- showing 36 clouds
and 514 combinations when the actual manifest has 38 clouds and 531
combinations. Adds missing Webdock and Alibaba Cloud columns and
updates all agent rows to reflect current implementation status.

refactor: replace Python with jq in Hetzner lib, fix /lab → /labs URLs (#827)
Hetzner lib: replace all Python JSON parsing with jq. Uses the
/datacenters API as the authoritative source for server type
availability (server_types.available), cross-referenced with
/server_types for specs and pricing. jq is auto-installed if missing.

URLs: update openrouter.ai/lab/spawn → openrouter.ai/labs/spawn
across all READMEs and CLI source.

fix: correct README describing spawn list as matrix view (#508)
The README incorrectly described `spawn list` as "Full agent x cloud
matrix" in two places. `spawn list` actually shows spawn history
(previously launched spawns). The matrix is shown by `spawn matrix`.

This fixes the Usage section and Commands table to accurately reflect
the CLI behavior, preventing confusion for first-time users.

fix: show error when --dry-run used without agent and cloud args (#480)
`spawn --dry-run` silently entered interactive mode, ignoring the flag.
Now it shows an actionable error like `--prompt` does. Also adds
`--dry-run` to the README commands table.
