Vertex AI Express always sent requests to the global endpoint without a
project or location, so Google served the location chosen at signup and
models outside it, such as Gemini 4 Argon in asia-southeast1, returned
404. With a Project ID, Express now uses the same
projects/{project}/locations/{region} base URL as Full mode; without
one, it keeps the documented Express endpoint. The Project ID help text
now says when Region applies.
Validation: pnpm run check.
