8 April 2011

Large of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.

A guy was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and consequently providing unlicensed impotence medications via the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was brought out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is important that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.

"These kinds of products being offered, normally online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no warranty about their safety.

"You simply do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More notably, you do not understand the impact drugs like this may have on your health."
